The Royal Marsden Hospital is Europe's largest Oncology centre with sites in Chelsea and Sutton. The Department of Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT and Radioisotope Therapy is looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join our team. The successful candidate will work cross-site and will be responsible to support the NM Teams working along side Deputy Leads and Radioisotope Service Manager. The candidate will be expected to support both the service and its staff in continuing to maintain and develop the highest standards of imaging.
To possess a distinct level of responsibility in providing professional, leadership and effective operational management of the Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT staff across both sites.
To work closely with the Radioisotope Service Lead, Deputy Service Leads, Nuclear Medicine consultants and all Nuclear Medicine staff.
Management of operational issues across site and leading the Deputy Service Leads in implementation of any new ways of working and operational changes.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the Deputy Service Leads and support them to ensure cover on holidays and other absence periods. To provide staff support and a smooth running of the service. The post holder will also assist the Radioisotope Service Manager with quality improvements and service projects.
They will act as a deputy for the Radioisotope Services Manager (RSM) as and when required. This will require the post holder to have meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex and stressful situations with calm efficiency and be able to lead and motivate staff particularly during high pressured events.

- To assess the clinical justification of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT referrals in line with both national regulations and local protocols.
- To book appointments – evaluating clinical information to determine appropriateness of request and degree of urgency.
- To act as a point of advice for patient enquiries regarding their referral and understanding their procedure.
- To act as a point of advice for imaging referrers from within and outside the Trust.
- To promote the Royal Marsden as a centre of excellence in cancer imaging and treatment by disseminating imaging protocols and providing advice to other imaging institutions.
- To modify examinations where appropriate to optimise diagnostic information in view of clinical information, findings, and patient condition.
- To adapt or modify scanning parameters to provide the optimum scan for each individual patient.
