Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Programme Manager to lead and execute programmes to the highest standards, ensuring the delivery of solutions with engineering integrity that meets the demands of nuclear operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the setup of programme(s), ensuring the establishment of robust programme and project management frameworks.
- Oversee the day to day operations of the programme(s) to ensure smooth execution.
- Foster a high performing, engaged, empowered and diverse programme team.
- Manage the effective oversight of programme budgets, up to approx. £150M.
- Maintain comprehensive oversight of programme delivery, from definition through to benefit realisation.
- Ensure the efficient deployment of resources, with clear role definitions and effective management of projects within the programme(s).
- Evaluate and make decisions to secure the programme(s) benefits, aligning these outcomes with the organisations strategic objectives.
- Identify and resolve obstacles to strategy delivery, implementing creative solutions to overcome challenges.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop programme strategies encompassing delivery, governance, planning, control, risk and issue management and quality assurance.
- Work closely with business change managers to align programme activities with organisational changes.
- Manage programme risks and ensure dependencies between projects are carefully monitored and addressed.
- Ensure effective communication across the programme, defining clear milestones and deliverables for both projects and the programme as a whole.
- Enforce a systematic approach to programme activities, incorporating Systems Engineering principles in the design and delivery of engineering projects.
- Incorporate the Gateway Review Process within programmes and monitor project compliance with Gateway Reviews throughout their development and delivery phases.
- Report on progress against key milestones, changes, exceptions, budgets and other performance indicators.
- Ensure adherence to the project and programme SHE culture and practices.
- Coordinate with other groups and departments to ensure seamless collaboration across interfaces and manage competing demands.
- Take responsibility for the successful delivery of new capabilities and the closure of the programme.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience leading large programme teams.
- Track record of delivering complex projects and programmes to budget, time and cost.
- Passion for ensuring good project management practices and culture.
- A proactive approach to health and safety, with good appreciation of UK compliance requirements in design.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to make sound economic decisions that maximise value.
- Excellent communication, influencing and collaboration skills.
- Experience of working with a diverse range of senior stakeholders and external partners.
- Excellent people management, negotiating and communication skills.
- Experience of financial management of significant (£M's) budget.
- Chartered status in relevant discipline.
- Professional Programme Management qualification or a proven track record.
