The role
As a Deputy Team Leader, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for the coordination of scheduled and unscheduled support bay avionic and electrical maintenance activities and the supporting administrative duties within the department.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Ensure that all support bay avionic/electrical maintenance activities are completed in a safe and efficient manner, delivered in line with the maintenance programme and to the standard laid down in the approved maintenance data.
- Lead Avionic/electrical trade development at RAF Valley, supporting apprentices, developing new and existing staff knowledge through both theoretical and practical methodology and contributing to the continuous improvement of teaching/instructing materials.
- Contribute to maintenance planning forums to ensure that assets are delivered to forward and depth maintenance departments on time, identifying risks to the schedule and sourcing suitable recovery solutions.
- Ensure that all quality management system processes are robustly adhered to including tool control, staff competence and maintenance recording.
- Report deficiencies in maintenance data/documentation via the appropriate method (IEDB (interactive engineering data base), TPRF (Technical publication recertification form), QOR (Quality occurrence report), F760 (unsatisfactory feature report))
This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Valley.
Essential experience of the Deputy Team Leader:
- Previous evidenced experience in the communication of maintenance updates, safety briefings and company notices through the medium of WSUM, /DSUM (Weekly/daily start up meetings).
- Previous experience of Leading the management of Staff Performance & Development for the department
- Previous experience in Over sign maintenance and release of avionic/electrical category assets in line with competency limitations and certification.
Qualifications for the Deputy Team Leader:
- Training in relevant discipline Mechanical/Electrical to City and Guilds Level or level 3 equivalent (completed an apprenticeship)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
