Job title:Principal Integration Engineer

Salary:Circa £70,000 (depending on skills and experience)
What you’ll be doing:
·Provide technical leadership and guidance as the team lead for T26 Combat System (CS) Integration Trials South, monitoring the team outputs to ensure they meet the needs of the programme
·Provide engineering expertise and experience to CS Trials programme supporting the installation, setting to work, trials and acceptance of the Combat System on the Platforms
·This will include the development of, conduct, analysis of and support to Combat System Equipment integration, acceptance, assurance and de-risking activities to be conducted at the Land Based Integration Facility, Supplier’s sites and on-board ships
·Role is Portsmouth based but with regular travel required to Scotstoun to support integration activities on board ships in the First of Class build programme and on-board ships for Sea Trials
·Generate, deliver and review Acceptance, Assurance and Integration Trials (PINTS, SINTS & GINTS) documentation as directed by the T26 CS Engineering Manager Integration Test & trials. This will include the research and inclusion of other platform (eg T45, T23, QEC) integration packages and the ‘pull through’ of information as necessary
·Lead the trials team South to undertake the preparations for, conduct, analysis and formal reporting of acceptance, assurance and integration trials to demonstrate Whole Ship and Integration Requirements (WSR & ITR) associated with individual CS Equipment and ensuring their operation within the context of the wider Combat System
·Generate Trials Reports, then compile and present Acceptance and Assurance evidence
·Support the T26 CSE Delivery Managers and wider T26 CS Trials team through the provision of specialist engineering expertise as required
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
·Proven track record of leading effort in integration trials, interface management, trials planning and understanding how Systems of Systems thinking applies to Combat System integration and trials in the maritime environment
·Proven experience of Sensor (Communications Systems, Radar, Sonar, Electronic Warfare) systems in a trials and/or operational environment
·Professional knowledge of Engineering Standards and Codes of Practice
Desirable:
·Previous team management experience
·Good working experience in more than one phase of Life Cycle Management, with sufficient experience of the total LCM to enable a good understanding of adjacent phases and through life engineering issue
·Knowledge of the Type 23, Type 45 Destroyer Combat System, CVF Mission System, or similar, and their integration approaches
·In depth knowledge of Combat System Equipment used in the Maritime Environment and experience of system integration and trials is essential
Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline. Applicants should be a Chartered Engineer or hold another equivalent professional registration with a relevant institution.

Integration test and trials (IT&T) Type 26 Team:
As a Principal Engineer – Systems – CS Integration Trials -T26 you will be responsible for successful delivery of the integration programme is one of the key de-risking measures for the Type 26 programme, taking significant cost and time out of the programme. This role is vital to ensuring that the delivery teams and their suppliers deliver a product that, once integrated into the Combat System, is fit for use and fit for purpose for the Customer. The role takes ownership of integration from requirements definition through to demonstrating the end user experience.
