The role
As a Senior Welding Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join a dynamic and agile team that fosters professional growth and career progression. Day-to-day, you’ll take ownership of the technical governance of welding across Devonport, providing expert support for surface ships, submarines, and Major Infrastructure Project (MIP) operations. Ensure adherence to standards, drive innovation, and support key projects.
- Ensure adherence to Babcock’s Weld Quality Management System (ISO3834-2) to maintain high-quality practices.
- Manage new welding procedures in workshops, collaborating with skilled welders and overseeing equipment.
- Author technical reports and proposals for bespoke welding techniques, leveraging materials expertise.
- Assess sub-contractor quality systems to uphold high welding standards across the site.
This role is full time 35, hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Senior Welding Engineer
- Strong understanding of welding processes and techniques.
- Previous experience in Welding Engineering
Qualifications for the Senior Welding Engineer
- National Skill Framework Level 6 qualification.
- Open to applicants with Level 6 and above qualifications in relevant engineering disciplines, such as foundation degrees, diplomas, HND, BEng/BSc, or MEng/MSc.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role
