JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The Engineering Requirements and Governance Manager – Tornado is responsible to the Head of Engineering, RSAF Tornado for all aspects of the Engineering Requirements, Governance and Assurance and ensuring that the Tornado Programmes are compliant with the Engineering & Maintenance Functional Governance Manual. The Job Holder is responsible for ensuring that all engineering solutions to meet the Tornado Customer Requirements are captured and derived to an appropriate level to ensure solutions are aligned and deliver mutually agreed outcomes thereby supporting the pursuit and implementation of a profitable business.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
·A good understanding of Systems Engineering including requirements management, systems development, integration and qualification of modifications, upgrades or complete system from an engineering perspective.
·Be innovative and capable of creating new processes and generating innovative solutions where existing solutions do not exist.
·Influencing skills are required in this role both externally and internally.
·Essential team leadership skills will be required.
·Effective internal and external stakeholder management along with the other constituents and be capable to influence the Customer and Supplier
·Understanding of the role of the Prime Contractor.
·Have a broad engineering expertise and be familiar with the whole support lifecycle.
·Be capable of managing complex engineering issues
·An innovative approach to diverse operational, technical and business issues is required.
·Managing conflict between developing Customers requirements and the stakeholder management of complex solution with limited available resources increase the complexity of task.
·Play a major role in defining and delivering effective through life support solutions
·Be able to travel to RSAF main operating bases within KSA on a frequent basis.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential:
·Extensive experience within the engineering industry.
·Meet the requirements for registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) / Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council.
·Experience of managing diverse engineering projects, with an understanding of the business lifecycle: from business winning and bid work through to in-service support and disposal.
·Experience of the development and application of engineering processes and functional governance.
·A demonstrable understanding of the Engineering and Product & Service Capability and Governance Management aspects and processes required to ensure the successful delivery of the Tornado Programme and its associated products and services
·A systems engineering background, with a proven ability to apply systems engineering principles and systems thinking to Engineering Programmes.
·Strong leadership qualities with ability to communicate at all organisational levels, in an appropriate and clear manner.
·Ability to establish dependable relationships with the Customer and partners.
Desirable:
·Thorough understanding of BAES-SA processes and procedures
·Broad aerospace and defence company / industry knowledge.
·Educated in an Engineering-related degree or equivalent
·Chartered Engineer, or working towards Chartership, in a Professional Engineering Institution.
·Experience of the development and application of engineering process, organisational design, and functional governance.
·A detailed understanding of the application of Engineering Life-Cycle Management (ELCM).
·Experience in requirement capture and management.
·Experience of the development and implementation of Product and Service Engineering Capability and Governance systems.
·Knowledge of aerospace design and development activities through to qualification and acceptance.
·Extensive experience of product delivery and support service provision in the aerospace or equivalent markets
