Job title:Senior Team Lead – Detail Design

Salary: Up to £58,540 (dependent on skills and experience)
What you’ll be doing:
- As a Senior Team Lead within the RCD Detail Design Team, your main responsibilities will include:
- Providing specialist engineering expertise to organise and co-ordinate the Mechanical, Structural, Electrical or Outfit Discipline with the Detail Design Engineering Team to ensure defined delivery objectives are achieved whilst continually maintaining quality and cost.
- Line management and accountability of a team of Detail Designers for the delivery of a complex scope of work across a stage of the engineering lifecycle, this includes management and accountability for several technical teams across sites where required, including subordinate Technical and Team Lead Detail Designers and Senior Detail Designers.
- Liaising closely with the Programme Management Professionals on time, cost and schedule delivery performance status; and the Sub-Discipline Technical Specialist Team on technical performance and Quality; while supporting the development of the Detail Design resources, for your discipline, in line with Detail Design Capability Strategy.
- Making informed decisions based on policies, procedures and delivery plans to ensure task completion; coordination of work activities taking into consideration wider delivery inputs and outputs
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- In-depth knowledge of all aspects of the relevant Sub Discipline within Detail Design in the Marine Engineering or similar industry sector
- Experience in the design, build, integration, support and operation of sub-discipline within the Foran CAD tool or equivalent in a 3D environment
- Experience in more than one phase of LCM, with sufficient experience of total LCM to enable awareness of adjacent phases / through life engineering issues
Desirable:
- Developing skills and experience in Engineering Management, Leadership Project Management, Risk Management, Budget Management, Commercial Awareness
- Working IEng status or working towards CEng status (UK)

The Detail Design team:
The Detail Design Team is one of the largest engineering disciplines at Naval Ships and covers a wide range of delivery focused engineering tasks playing a crucial role and specialising in the development and implementation of 3D CAD integration, and production of Engineering outputs. Detail Designers are deployed across the engineering lifecycle from early concept stages through to support.
This role offers you the opportunity to work within the Detail Design Engineering Team alongside various other Engineering and Project Management teams, along with a range of industry partners. In this role you will provide technical knowledge and leadership experience to the growing Detail Design Team, working within a team of other experienced engineers.
