Job Description/Tasks/Responsibilities
Is responsible for implementing the Radiation Safety Program at a site/facility or within various radiation safety disciplines, including managing staff. Ensures facilities and projects comply with applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures regulating radiation safety. Compiles compliance reports and oversees regulatory recordkeeping and submission providing information to RSO for reports to regulatory agencies. Complies with and supports company policies, including health and safety, harassment and respect in the workplace. Supervises, coaches, mentors, guides, disciplines and develops staff to achieve company objectives.
Manages various radiation safety disciplines such as site specific dosimetry and instrumentation. Ensures compliance with local, provincial and federal laws and regulations pertaining to site operations. Assumes responsibilities as a radiation safety officer on a federal or provincial radioactive material license specific to the site reporting license requirements to ESC RSO. May be designated by name on a federal or provincial radioactive material license.
Provides oversight, direction and training to organization site staff to ensure all radiation safety activities relating to a site, program project, function and/or facility process(es) are conducted in compliance with established EnergySolutions rules, regulations, policies and procedures and to ensure high quality products and services for EnergySolutions site specific customer.
Supports development of radiation safety procedures and implements for site radiation safety staff. Provides training for site staff as needed to ensure compliance with radiation safety procedures
Manages the implementation of radiation safety procedures in response to new regulations at the federal, provincial and local levels as directed by the RSO.
Provides support to On-Call Health Physics emergency response for the site as required.
Completes radiation work plans and enforces compliance.
Compiles compliance reports and oversees regulatory recordkeeping and submission of reports to the RSO for inclusion in ES reports to regulatory agencies. May act as an advisor on regulatory committee(s)
Manages surveys to keep facility(ies) in compliance with licenses and regulations.
Manages ES Site staff as required ensuring work goals and objectives are completed. Provides staff evaluations for direct reports, ongoing coaching and feedback.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Able to make decisions with sometimes incomplete information. Able to make decisions that protect the company's ability to continue operations.
Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze and report qualitative and quantitative data. Demonstrated ability to handle more complex work and work broader in scope such as more than one subject area focus. Ability to schedule tasks assigned to other radiation safety professionals. Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements
Education: Master or Bachelor degree (or equivalent diploma or certification) in Health Physics or comparable science, or equivalent experience.
Required Experience: 5 years' experience working in an operational radiation protection environment and 3 years of operational health physics supervisory experience.
